Site Update - September

I am still loading the Ship’s company into the database.  It is slow process since I get distracted with my normal day-to-day tasks. I currently have up to D & E pages loaded.  Once I have all of the names added I will then be posting a the links to our new pages. I have two formats I am going to design and will let you decide which is better. The goal of this project is to keep a similar layout to what Art had originally setup.

I aslo want it setup so I can export the information and provide to Tony for the reunions.

Site Update - August

While I was renovating the Roster pages I noticed several updates that were needed.

• All of the home navigation links were pointing to the old site index file. This has been fixed on all of the pages
• The old picture album pages and files were still on the site.  We are now using a dynamic gallery so I removed these old links.
• The ship medal picture files that were being stored in the picture album were moved to our images directory.
• Updated the marquee which is the rolling text on front page to advise about the next reunion
• Updated a couple of menu picture images to pull from our images directory. They were stored in our old picture album file
• Removed the menu Picture link to not show the little reunion picture when you click on the picture. It will make it consistent with the other menu options
• Removed the Fast counter and Link Exchange links at the bottom since we were having problems with them displaying correctly

The crew pages are slowing coming together. I have been adding them into the database and once I have all the pages loaded into the database I will start work on the dynamic pages.

I will also be working on moving all of the pages to the Expression Engine Content management system

Next Reunion

The next reunion is less then a month away.Please send me some pictures to update the gallery if you are able to make it to the reunion.  If you are not going send me some pictues of what you are doing that day so I can show you there in spirit. :>

Site Update - Ship’s Company

I have started work on a update to the ship’s company and Memory Honor Pages. The plan is to dynamically update these pages from a database. This may result in a change in the current layout however I will do everything I can to stay true to Art’s vision. If all goes well then I will be able to generate a printed hard copy for those Crew members who do not have internet access. I will also be creating a Friends of the Algol Page base on the hard copy I have.

Please review the ship’s company and let me know of any updates that are required. I have the Sept 2005 hard copy of the Ship’s Roster so if a name is not listed in our online version I will get it added.
