I bring great sadness and regret to let you know that Art passed away last night. He fought to the end. He passed away in his sleep last night after a long day of medical issues.
I can’t say enough or do justice for what he has brought to my life these last 6 years. He freely gave me his friendship and let me explore history as he knew it. He is going to be deeply missed.
Our friendship started 6 years ago when my dad asked me to assist one of his sea buddies with his web page. I would go over to his house every Sunday to help him with the site and look after his computer. I used to alway laugh when he would tell anyone on the phone that his computer person was over and he had to go. :>
What I enjoyed was his stories about what occurred with him over the years. He told me the same stories on more then one occasion but I never complained as he always brought a slightly different perspective each time he told the story.
He is going to be missed. He fought to the end and went peacefully in his sleep. The one thing that I will remember about him is his statement to the doctor a couple of weeks ago when the Doctor asked him “Do you want me to take all measures to keep you alive?” and he answer “Yes”. When the doctor asked him Why? He stated “ I love my wife and I don’t want to leave her! God bless you Art. Thank you for your friendship over the years.
